It is sorrowful to witness the ideal of freedom to dissipate from humanity. With the abundance of information available for many at the touch of a button; it seems people are choosing to think less towards the possibility of having a quality life. Being in a position to purchase basic groceries with a roof over your head shouldn’t be considered living well; if anything, that’s basic survival. Why have so many given up on the pursuit of happiness and decency for a mountain of debt and depression? Why have the people allowed a tyrannical government to treat the majority like we’re back in the 19th century?
The ridiculous number of times I’ve attempted conversations, including writing articles about ringing the bell of awareness, has been thrown back into my face or ignored. The U.S. has successfully conditioned its citizens to swallow common sense and repeatedly state, “This is the best country in the world!” (Unless you mean best in serial killers, raising terrorists, obesity (youth & and adults), sexual assaults, most expensive education systems, waste production, and overall world leaders in debt.) All while there’s crises happening from state to state. From homelessness to drug addictions, wealthy to poor ratio, massive debt for basic essentials, and then adding horrible health, you can pick your poison. Not to mention the outrage tax exploitation of the majority, case in point the poorest Americans; all while delivering on a silver-plate unlimited tax breaks and financial advantages for the rich and wealthy (including politicians).
With the average household debt in 2024 at $104,215, only 37% of Americans can afford to buy a home. This is particularly impacting Gen-Z and Millennials that need to stay home longer regardless of education because they can not afford the crippling home market prices. Even when finances are available, people are paying much more for a home than they are receiving. Also, stats will show that since 2020 food prices has gone up by 28.4%; yet I don’t understand that math since I’ve personally witnessed prices up over 50% on many items (eggs/meats/bread) in many grocery stores as they’ve made record profits. All this country has to do is add a self-made catchphrase, supply chain issues, fake news, and unprecedented in these uncertain times. Then, all of a sudden, people can no longer smell the aroma?
The U.S. government, which many fail to realize is a self-serving business that has long failed to protect its people from its home-grown tyranny. For instance, corporations like Airbnb and BlackRock, among other private equity firms, own a good portion of the real estate market that is wrecking economies like Raid insect spray. For instance, some governments are already making it illegal for Airbnb to do business in their countries. Consider this, less than 2% of Americans are considered wealthy, and you better believe that many politicians are comfortably nestled in that group. They routinely use the words us while campaigning; yet who believe they live like us? Like Kendrick Lamar said, Not Like Us.
While barely touching the tip of the iceberg, we are well beyond what created the French Revolution as the people said enough is enough and fought the greedy monarchy, the church, the nobles, and the ding ding ding politicians. Americans can learn from the long-lasting Revolutionary motto of Liberty, Egalite, Fraternite, against hereditary power, and its Dogma can be seen as enlightenment ideas This brings me back to the disappointment of routinely hearing people say, “It is what it is.” How do people accept those in leadership positions, living by totally separate rules of life and accountability (if any)? I can hear the clanking of bones of those that participated in The American Revolution of 1783 are turning in their graves, how their descendants have allowed the repeat and evolution of a worse unbalanced government/political wealth versus the people that count as the majority.
We, the people, have the right and the duty to demand accountability from our government and those in leadership positions. Heavy is the head that wears the crown, William Shakespeare. However that does not apply to our leaders, they tend to specialize in the contradiction of pointing fingers and citing shame at everyone but themselves. We have the right to free our brains, neurological functions, sensation, movement, thought processing, emotions, communication, and regulation. We can boycott and stop doing business with certain companies. We can demand a cap in pay for those sitting behind a political desk while calling themselves heroes and honorable. We can shut down grocery store chains that exploit our basic needs. We do not need to keep jumping off the cliff just to fit in. We can open our eyes and our mouths to say enough is enough…
Freedom from survival, because simply surviving is not fully living.
