The New Menace to Society.

Today, I’ll keep it lite with speaking on what I believe to be a modern phenomenon of irresponsible dog owners. With many people having a hard time coping in today’s society, one group clearly stands out, dog owners. I get it. Many people really do love their animals; then again, there seems to be too many that just wanted someone to call mine.

What in the world is going on with so many people currently claiming, “I can’t leave home for 5 minutes without my doggy. This has been exasperated with the introduction of the public Covid reset. Too many people couldn’t stand the person they saw in the mirror, so they harbored an innocent doggy. There’s obviously nothing wrong with wanting companionship. The problem is when you aren’t equipped to be responsible for said animal. We should’t be paying to be at a lovely restaurant just to have your dog begging or jumping or barking for attention. Nor in the local grocery store while we’re picking up fresh vegetables…, that employees now have a new reason to say, “clean up on aisle 5.”

How about going into a public space like a trail, beach, or city walk. When the dog owner refuses to have a leash on while their dog runs up to any stranger. The most irritating part is the lack of accountability for picking up one’s own dog deposits. Which is the focal point of today’s conversation. I’m not speaking on an isolated incident. No, this has been in many countries and a variety of neighborhoods. The funny thing is, probably the opposite of where one would think. This is far more present in the more well-kept areas of town; or let’s say, more privileged. Too many people of noble blood believing they’re too good to scoop up the excrements their precious doggy has left for anyone with a good shoe, nose, or eyes to deal with.

Then you have those who are refusing to allow their dogs to be dogs. They take them on a walk, but the dog isn’t allowed to exercise. They are stuck in an actual baby, Moby or Ring Sling, with their legs dangling. Or worse yet, the ones pushing their dogs in a freaking baby stroller. Dogs need exercise, not to be forced into a lazy human life as your living doll. “But they’re family.” How many of you have witnessed a family refusing to allow their kids the ability to walk??? I’ll wait… Not to mention why I refuse to eat at potlucks. Too many people allow their pets in the kitchen, onto counters, and too many others, allowing them to taste test the food.

Worse yet, many of these helpless dogs are not healthy by the look of their public donations. News flash, they tend to have similar outcomes as us humans; where solid is healthy and liquid is not. Those are some stressed-out animals that need support from being your broken support crutch. They have these poor dogs running through the town hoping someone dropped a Xanax, Zoloft, or Propranolol. Just anyone should not be allowed to own a pet; just like not everyone should be allowed to have children. Also breaking news, if you need to make sure the chains are on and bolting down the doors so your precious doggy doesn’t leave; its because you are holding that animal beyond its will and its now your captive. Happy animals don’t run away!

I would love for everything these people do to their animals, including to the unsubscribed neighbors and society come back home to them. How about paying a dog tax for all the people who need to clean up behind your laziness? How about a finable ticket for every drop of feces left behind? How about making that person wear an orange vest and walk the city searching to find, then clean up random droppings every day for however long you’ve owned your dog. But if you happen to be one that has refused to pick up behind your responsibility; in my pettiness, I hope every shoe you own has poop on them.

It’s time to call out these bad dog owners and hold them accountable. These dogs deserve better, and society doesn’t deserve to pick up your pieces or responsibility.

So true.. some people are so concerned with the idea of someone or something loving them unconditionally they’re willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of their companion or the sake of having a companion. And 9 times out of 10 it’s “certain” folks who take their personal lack of responsibility, awareness, and general care for others and carry that into their pet ownership. (Also makes you think about how these people are raising their kids)

I once had a friend who spent an amount equivalent to a down payment on a house within a year on medical care for her dog, who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 11. The dog could no longer be left alone, so she went to great lengths to ensure his comfort. Before his illness, we had to be extremely cautious when entering her apartment because he often tried to escape, clearly yearning for freedom while he still had the ability. Once his health deteriorated, he was no longer able to climb stairs or go for walks. He required medication every four hours, and to manage his needs, she ordered patches of grass for him to urinate and defecate on her patio, which she would dispose of once a week.

The situation became increasingly difficult for the neighbors, who had to deal with the smell and unsightly view on a daily basis. Despite this, she was deeply offended when someone reported the issue to the leasing office of the apartment complex. Really?

Exactly, that’s a perfect example of animal cruelty. All because a selfish person couldn’t stand being by themselves for a brief moment. Too often people force the hand of time onto those that are clearly ready for whatever’s next.
