What if every time you looked out the fancy boat, vessel, floaty or jumping into that refreshing water, it was realized that the hate, pain, and suffering is what kept you afloat?
Maybe the coincidence of a let’s say Lake Lanier in Oscarville, Georgia; Lake Martin in Kowaliga (Benson) and Susannah, Alabama; Seneca Villiage (Central Park), New York; the Albina neighborhood currently known as Delta Park in Vanport, Oregon keeps that pain/point alive. When people know many of the world, people can’t care less about another’s pain, especially when that person doesn’t apply for tanning. One tends to keep those needed tears at bay.
The silence of outrage is deafening for the lacking humanity for the Black community. The Great Depression empathy of callousness towards the envied/hated permanent tan is like the disappearing ozone layer. Basically unseen or unseeable to the many enjoying the great oceans, there’s not another group of people in the world that have been demanded to get over and stop talking about the unlimited atrocities they have and are currently receiving. Regardless of the Holocaust of being Black, it has never stopped.
The baby’s that aren’t allowed to simply be what they are, but are born into the responsibility of stress to not offending or making jealous anyone that looks opposite of their skin. The viewing of so many people that looks like you being dismantled by the public perceptions as the themed villain alive, dying or dead in the story pre-written for them for all others to claim as factual and true. The “Right” of Innocent until proven guilty has never been for the Black community.
To have the weight of the entire world of Blackness is daunting, to say the least. Regardless if a group of people have never personally met any Black person, when they see one in the news “that how they are.” On the contrary, it’s such a luxury to have the ability to live life as an individual without the burden of said permanent tans; regardless of the repeated themes throughout the recorded and unrecorded/deleted history, including the present. A non-black child or adult is routinely viewed as a lone, sad, mental health struggling sympathetic individual with so much to give…The main thing that’s not giving is accountability for actions; example, unlimited excuses, passes, probation (if any) versus earned jail time.
The Ocean of Black Tears is quite fitting when you realize that much of the modern world wouldn’t exist without the vast contributions of those forced to release said tears. One wouldn’t know what the world could be if those with the tears didn’t believe in and convinced the world was not flat. How to navigate using the stars. Mathematics. The idea that bathing would’ve prevented some of the world’s worst early plagues. Keeping your food refrigerated. Air conditioning, elevator doors, maxi pads, cell phones, laser eye surgery, reel movies, security systems, Jazz, Rock music, Country music, Blues, Pop music, golf tee, cash register, shoe soles, The Rolling Stone, The Beetles, including the revered Elvis whom stole is whole career Presley.
Those that have insufficiently claimed themselves as gentlemen and or gentle ladies; especially the religious, would seem to be overwhelmed with gratitude for the many that have open the countless doors and laid down over the cracks to catapult the many generations toward comforts they themselves didn’t quite produce. This by no means is this article claiming that no one who looked opposite of the permanent tan hasn’t worked hard or suffered. Though I am saying their lives have been cushioned to not realize the full effect of how the stress of hate is like running a marathon while wearing a weighted bodysuit and in quicksand filled with vipers.
What happens when those tear ducts dry up? Food for thought, many modern people hold hostage support animals. Now imagine if that support was treated like the enemy, withheld food, and refused the ability to gather its own food. How long will that cute support pet stay in its condition while it sees a juicy cushioned leg right in front of it? Do your part to help stop the pain or reap the very same that has been dished out for centuries of greed and complacency. The time to do better and what’s right is always and has always been right now.
