Rebirthing the Spirit of Life

Most of us have witnessed despair at some point or another in our lives. Many of us just have to look outside the window or the mirror. There’s enough for every man, woman, child, and pet to live comfortably with all the essentials for a quality life; except for the greed of the few and the many politicians that use their platforms to take excess from whom they claim to represent. Why are politicians living so much better than you? Do you believe they work that much harder than every other citizen?

While attending college years ago, we were tasked in our Humanities class. How would we change the country for the better. I had an idea then that stills hang around in my head as a simple evolution. By adjusting the current broken public assistance system and flipping it inside out, it first gets rid of the vast majority that has represented the “leadership” within it.

According to the U.S. Treasury Fiscal Data (.gov) in 2023, the federal government spent $1.19 trillion on more than 80 different welfare programs and 8 billion on public housing. If you take a stroll in thousands of well populated cities across the country, you’ll have a hard time seeing where that money is truly helping.

For example, no longer giving out handouts to able body people and not rewarding those for their repeated bad decisions. No more lottery wins for having multiple children that couldn’t be afforded in the first place, in a one-bedroom home that doesn’t accommodate them. 100% of able body persons would be expected to contribute towards a healthy community and living environment.

There’s enough land and housing to put a roof over everyone’s head. The catch is every able body will be required to work a 4-6 hour shift, providing rejuvenating services in the city depending on skill level and abilities. Cleaning the streets, removing graffiti, park preservation, reading to kids/adults, building new modest homes, cooking lessons, etc…

Billions of dollars would be saved by removing the handouts and trading a days labor for living essentials: housing, food, education, health, and so on. Of course, there would be rules for qualification such as, while in the program, no illegal drugs in the system. The people should not have to support any bad habits.

For those who have already started speculating on who’s the main people benefiting from the system, you might be wrong. The majority of welfare recipients are white (43%), followed by Hispanic (26%), then Black (23%). These figures fall in line with population demographics and debunk the misconception that welfare programs are predominately associated with the Black or minority community.

The point is there’s enough to go around; as well as the ability to treat people like actual human beings. The life a person can feel for being a part of the community versus being looked down upon, dependent on said community can produce a different type of pride, decency, and humanity.

Good points, Patrick. If we are to rise to become the best we can be, handouts is not the way to go. It strips us of our dignity and our personal responsibility to co-create. There is abundance enough for all. We need to have the wealth of the world re-distributed, and if we collectively put our energies out there to support this intention it shall slowly prevail, I believe. Yes, to your point, there is enough to go around. We need to encourage new political, enlightened, leadership. It begins with us.

Would like to see how the finer points would be applied but sounds like a good idea.

It could be designed from a merit system of humanity. An actual days labor for the basic essentials of life. All it will take is for enough people to say enough is enough of the current lies. Thank you for being part of the conversation and feel free to check out the previous posts/articles.

I believe part of the reason this simple fix isn’t implemented is because it will take away from many government thieves that are getting a large slice of the unaccounted pie.
